Building An Inclusive Cycling Community

MN Cycling Center Statement of Solidarity and Action

As we focus on building an inclusive cycling facility and assisting future bicycle racers who cannot afford bicycle racing equipment, we carry heavy hearts but are committed to building an inclusive community that is free from racial injustice.

The past few weeks have been painful and disturbing. The killing of George Floyd, and so many BIPOC Americans over the years, is unacceptable. We grieve with the families who have lost loved ones to racial violence. Our hearts break for children who have grown up knowing the pain of discrimination and racial injustice.

Black Lives Matter

We have always believed there is no place for discrimination or the violation of human rights.  We stand in solidarity with the protesters who have taken to the streets in our community and around the world to force the government to make meaningful change.

We are committed to building an inclusive cycling facility that will be a safe place for the entire community to gather, exercise and learn.  Our after-school programs will continue to provide STEM instruction and healthy activity for students of color.  But that is not enough.  We will continue to learn, grow and strive to become antiracist to support opportunities for all members of the BIPOC community.  We will continue to include and support black communities in all our future programming. We will actively recruit board members and volunteers that represent black communities.

We hope you will join us in working to create a future that is inclusive, safe and healthy for all.  Together, we can make a difference.
