MN Cycling Center awarded $5,000 Outride matching grant
MNCC is excited to announce that we have secured $5,000 in matching support from the Outride Fund! We are grateful for Outride’s continued support of local organizations that make cycling more accessible to all. We need your help to make sure MNCC can take full advantage of this generous gift.
To access the full amount of our matching grant, we need to raise $5,000 dollars in grass roots support through community donations. We’re already on our way with a generous $2,000 anonymous pledge! If you agree that cycling needs to be more accessible to youth from a variety of backgrounds living in the Twin Cities, please consider joining this pledge and making a donation to this campaign.
Thanks to Outride, your gift holds twice the power – each dollar donated helps us gain access to another dollar in matching support. Thank you for your support of MNCC!
The Premier Cycling and Education Complex in the Midwest
The MN Cycling Center is a racing and education destination for cyclists and fans of all ages. The facility will provide community cycling programs, after-school STEM education curriculum and a home for world-class racing.
MN Cycling Center Statement of Solidarity and Action
As we focus on building an inclusive cycling facility and assisting future bicycle racers who cannot afford bicycle racing equipment, we carry heavy hearts but are committed to building an inclusive community that is free from racial injustice.
The Next Generation of MN Sports Leadership
Velodrome bicycle racing has put Minnesota on the world map for 30 years. The state-owned NSC Velodrome is the most unique facility at the NSC and one of only 26 in the U.S. The outdoor wood track has hosted the 1992 Olympic Cycling Trials, several U.S. National Championships, international Grand Prix meets, a weekly race series, development classes and training sessions.
After 25 years of exposure to the elements, the cycling community rallied to raise $100,000 to complete necessary repairs and the Velodrome attracted 1,000 riders and more than 4,000 spectators from around the world during that season of rebirth. The NSC Foundation board has different plans for the Velodrome site, however. After the 2019 racing season, the Velodrome was permanently closed. The MN Cycling Center will be the next phase in the development of cycling in Minnesota. This popular sport will grow even more as we roll out our programs for high school athletes.
Include us in your giving
We hope you will help us keep up the momentum with a gift that advances Minnesota Cycling Center and the kids we serve. 2021 promises to be a great year of propelling kids toward academic success, physical health and community leadership. We need your gift to keep our wheels rolling!
Your donations will help us expand our STEAM academic programs and build the foundation for our new facility.
The MN Cycling Center is committed to giving kids a leg up both athletically and academically. Our Science. Technology. Engineering. Athletics. Math. programs combine fitness, fun and learning in a supportive, friendly environment.
The Velodrome will showcase the best bike racing from across the Midwest – and around the world. Wanna race? We’ll have classes for all ability levels! It’s never too early or too late to learn to race.
