Learn Track Racing
The MN Cycling Center offers a fixed gear bike racing program for junior and adult racers, aged 12+. These individual sessions are condensed versions of our time-tested program which teaches the fundamentals of fixed gear bike racing. Our experienced coaches guide students through the basics of riding a fixed gear bike, track cycling tactics and more. Sessions will be held on a closed and safely moderated asphalt venue. Classes are limited to 10 students, so apply soon.
What You’ll Learn
Students will learn track racing basics and upon completion, will be prepared to race a fixed gear bike on a velodrome. Courses will cover:
- What is a velodrome?
- Fundamentals of riding a fixed gear bicycle
- Fundamentals of group riding on a fixed gear bicycle
- Pack riding strategy and practice including experience with close contact and movement within a pack of riders
- Race pace group riding on a fixed gear bicycle.

Fees
Training session fees: $20
* One-day USAC license fees included.
Race day fees: $35
Scholarships are available to offset license fees and session fees. Contact us to apply for a scholarship.
What’s Included
Bikes will be available to students who need one. Participants who have fixed gear bikes are welcome to use them. No hand brakes are allowed. Students will receive snacks and water, great SWAG from sponsors.
All coaches carry Safe Sport credentials and Fixed Action is fully insured.

Important details
The program will be permitted and insured through USA Cycling. Participants will need to apply for a RACE license prior to the first class. One day licenses are available for $15.
Parents/Guardians of participants aged 12-18 will need to sign a waiver for their students.
Classes will be held rain or shine.

- Approved cycling helmet
- Closed-toe, flat-soled athletic shoes or cycling shoes
- Shorts/T-shirts or cycling apparel
Note: students wanting to wear their own dedicated cycling shoes, they must bring their own pedals.
